The American online payment platform Stripe has expanded its services in Europe by launching in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. With Stripe, companies can easily accept online payments on their websites or via a mobile application.
Stripe announced the news of its launch in the Benelux this week, explaining how Dutch companies such as WeTransfer, Deliveroo and Catawiki are already using the payment service. On a global scale, companies as Facebook, Kickstarter and Slack also make use of Stripe.
‘Benelux is important region for us’
Taking into account there’s a strong startup ecosystem and the ecommerce industries are growing fast, the Benelux region is an important one for Stripe, it says. Duco van Lanschot, Head of Benelux at Stripe, says it’s his priority to help startups and developers with the solutions of Stripe. “Developers for example are currently investing a lot of their time and effort into building payments systems for subscriptions and other periodic payments. We have a ready-to-use solution they can implement very fast. This gives them more time to develop and improve their own products”, he explains.
Stripe has a dedicated solution for online marketplaces, called Stripe Connect, which process payments between sellers and customers from all over the world. Connect supports almost every business model, including on-demand business, ecommerce and crowdfunding.
Companies that want to use Stripe need to pay €0.25 plus 1.4 percent of the transaction order for European credit cards and €0.25 plus 2.9 percent per transaction for non-European credit cards. Stripe supports several (local) payment methods, such as iDEAL, Bancontact, Apple Pay, Android Pay, SEPA Direct Debit, SOFORT and Giropay.
