Payment Systems Regulator comments on concerns about free-to-use ATM closures

We are protecting the geographic spread of free-to-use ATMs and it is essential that we see free-to-use ATMs remain available to everyone.

Between December 2017 and May 2018, LINK reported that just over 500 ATMs were closed each month. Importantly, 85% were pay-to-use (where consumers are charged to withdraw money) and not free-to-use ATMs or those which should be protected because of our requirements.
