Amazon Courts Low-Income Customers With Deep Prime Discount

Amazon has introduced a Prime membership priced at $5.99 monthly for people on government assistance who have a valid EBT card. A Prime membership ordinarily costs $10.99 per month, or $99 per year. The EBT card is used to disburse funds for a variety of government assistance programs, including TANF, SNAP and WIC. Consumers have to qualify for the discount program every 12 months, and may take advantage of it for up to four years. Prime offers unlimited fast, free two-day shipping on more than 50 million eligible items, and other benefits.
